Can a dental hygienist perform teeth whitening treatments?
Yes, the application of teeth whitening techniques is a procedure reserved for dental professionals such as hygienists or dentists. A prescription is required. It can be obtained directly on site during an examination appointment with our dentist, allowing you to access whitening the same day or shortly afterward.
Can my dentist refuse to provide a prescription for teeth whitening?
No. A dentist cannot refuse to allow a patient to receive a teeth whitening treatment prescribed for use by the dental hygienist of their choice, unless the patient has a specific oral condition for which whitening would be contraindicated.
